We are very excited to let you know that the forums are up and running again- if you haven’t stopped by to check them out, come on by and say hello! We are committed to restoring it to it’s former glory.
There is also new forum that is up along with an explanation of what happened and where we are at in the process of restoring the forum.
Please see recordcollectorsguild.org/forum
When we took over the Record Collectors Guild we had no intention of discontinuing the forum. We know just how special this forum is to all of you, and how important it is to the world. We quickly discovered one thing after taking the reigns of the website… The forum that you knew and loved hadn’t been upgraded since the 90’s- and was not secure enough to keep it as it was (the forum was running on PHPnuke- unsupported since the same time). We want to bring it into the 21st century.
We had to take the old forum down in the meantime, and move onto software that was secure. However, because of the horribly outdated and insecure PHPnuke software, there was little hope to migrate the usernames/user account info onto a new platform.
How we plan to move forward:
The forum is now here and up and running. All of the old forum data is intact, and we are trying to migrate it onto this server so it is at least searchable, even if the user accounts cannot be restored.
We are going to continue working on this forum and get it back to what it was. While things could have been handled differently, we are looking to move forward and start a wonderful new chapter for the Record Collector’s Guild!
Please let us know what you want to see here and how we can help mend the fences that were broken.
If you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to see implemented in the new forum, feel free to shoot us an email! We’d be happy to offer an album from out record archive as our thanks to you for helping create a great new voice.
