I have an Okeh 8037 Lizzie Miles race series 78 (now you see the importance) which has glue, polyurethane, dried snot, or SOMETHING smeared over the grooves. Probably too much to be snot. Anyone know how to get this off? Thanks!

Try "Photo -Flo 600". It's a concentrated cleaning solution made by Kodak for cleaning film...works great on vinyl and shellac and is very mild!
