Hello there and apologies if this is in the wrong forum -
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good high quality re-issue pressing of the VU & Nico LP?. I know Universal Japan did a very limited pressing a few years ago but it seems to be hard to track down. I also saw that the re-issue vinyl label '4 Men With Beards' did a version but I bought their issue of 'I Am The Cosmos' by Chris Bell and thought it was very poor, I subsequently found out it was simply copied direct from the Rykodisc CD and onto 180G Vinyl.
Obviously a re-issue of the VU from the original tapes would be the best for sound quality.
Any thoughts or ideas?

Depends on the condition of the "original tapes" some 40 years on. Oxide particles have a tendency to shed as the binder ages. |

Yes, I totally agree....so i guess that narrows the question down to a good sounding re-issue!
Thanks for the comment. |

| I tried cutting this album from the analogue master tape that was available in Australia twenty years ago and the quality was rather poor. Ended up cutting it from a CD that contained the previously unreleased "Alternate Single Voice Version" of "All Tomorrow's Parties". I'm sure someone can suggest a good re-issue. |

| Not a "recent" reissue, but FWIW, I bought a new reissue copy in the '70s, on Verve/Polygram V6-5008. I haven't played it in a while, but IIRC, it sounds good. I would guess that you might be able to find a copy of this pressing at a price considerably less than an early or first pressing. |
