I am a fan of Kraftwerk and has bought a couple of records with them. I recently bought Kraftwerk 2 from 1972 with the Philips label. I was quite sure that Kraftwerk's records never were re-issued under the Philips label, only Vertigo and WB.
The guy at the record store said it was that cheap because it probably was a re-issue. He was not the one who priced the record so he couldn't tell for sure.
Anyone know about this?

I just got the Kraftwerk double album with Kraftwerk 1+2. This was on red and green records though released under the Vertigo label.
I think i read somewhere on the internet that it was a bootleg release, this one with coloured records. Is that right?
Also i saw on the back of the cover that the track Ruckzuck was actually misspelled Ruckzack, though on the label it's written correctly. Is this on all these releases or do i have some rare misspress?

I'm a fan of them, too. Do you have any of the quasi-bootleg live records that were released, a couple years ago.
I have an original pressing of the double album. It's on flying saucer Vertigo. I'm pretty sure that what you have is a bootleg reissue.
I think that their very rare pre-first album TONE FLOTE was released in Phillips. Don't know about the others.

The first two or three Kraftwerk albums (Kraftwerk 1, Kraftwerk 2 and Ralf und Florian) was released with the Philips label. So was the Tone Float by Organisation too.
Autobahn was originally released with Philips in 1974 but the later release from 1985 was EMI/Electrola.
Radio-Activity and Trans Europa Express was originally released with Capitol labels and later on EMI.
The Man Machine/Die Mensch-Maschine was on EMI.

The thing is that i dont think the second album was re-issued with Philips label, so might have been lucky to get the original version at a very cheap price in NM/NM condition.

The double album is a bootleg yes with Vertigo labels. I know that!

The first three Kraftwerk LPs have been booted to death in the past few years. The original German pressing of these 3 LPs *were* on the Philips label (Autobahn too). However, there are vinyl reproduction reissues of KW1 & 2 with fake Phliips labels, I think in gatefold sleeves too, the difference being that I think the repros are in matt sleeves while the originals are semi-glossy. There were also a repro presses some time ago of KW1 & 2 plus Ralf & Florian all in single (non-gatefold) covers with non-Philips labels. Organisation's Tone Float (which was originally on RCA, rather than Philips) was also booted in this batch, with a modified cover to include the Kraftwerk logo.

To confuse things further, awhile after these were pressed, Ralf & Florian was again repressed, this time in a variety of coloured vinyl packaged in a plain stickered cover . This was mocked-up to look like an official UK promo, complete with EMI logo etc. But it *was* a fake.

And yes, there have been even more recent repro pressings of the UK double reissue of the first 2 LPs, also in coloured vinyl, together with coloured vinyl issues of Autobahn & Computer World, a black vinyl Electric Cafe, and picture disc pressings of The Man Machine.

Phew! And let's not even start on their CD bootlegs...

I am actually kinda annoyed by all that Kraftwerk bootlegs.
My Kraftwerk 1+2 is a bootleg on coloured vinyls.
My Kraftwerk 2 is probably a bootleg since it's actually not the gatefold and the re-issues non-gatefolds were NOT on Philips label.
And... I have the "The Man Machine" picture disc.

The good thing is that i got them all in NM or SS condition and they were cheap!

And i am sorry about the mistakes in my post. I just read it all on Wikipedia so...

But thanks harveyw! Very Happy

There is a reissue of the second Kraftwerk lp on Philips. It has no gatefold cover and the same catalogue number.I sold it a year ago to Greece for 56,-euros.The only thing is that the reissue got a black plastic ring in the middle of the label around the spine. This is typical for the late 70's Philips pressings. It also got the textured stamp on the back cover.
