  • Today let me share a very nice little gem from an English "so called" super group:

    • 'Anyone For Tennis' / 'Pressed Rat And Warthog' - Cream . (DE Polydor - 59 206, 1968) mono

      • . Image

        . Image

It's not that "Cream" typically sound you'd expect, but it's really worth a spin and nice to have it in the 7" collection.
      An absolute keeper!

Yep! Now it's time for the audio clip! . Image

  • Just a quick posting, Marci's away, visiting her girlfriend for 4 days. Have to serve me my dinner myself tonight.

Here's a really genuine guy in all it's meaning! Of course he's a bit odd, He's from England. But I really was fascinated in 1979, when I saw him live in England/London/"Music Machine", thought I really had no chance to follow his crafty, sometimes a little shocking, but always telling just reality in these days. The song I like most from all of his precious songs is "I don't Wanna Be Nice"!
But he also has a special sense for the more miserable moments in life.

    • 'The Day My Pad Went Mad' / 'A Distant Relation' - ohn Cooper Clarke . (UK Epic - EPC A 2077, 1982) promotional copy

      • . Image

The flip-side it a evil caricature of relationships in general and of families in particular. . Image
        Give him a try . . . it's worth it! (It's a really strange ride . . . mate!)
the second audio clip is my fave, as I mentioned above. . Image

  • Yep! . . . still file under "C" . . .
One more gem from the American 'Laurie' label:

Of course I have the really arty and therefore appropriate company sleeve.

    • 'Out Of This World' / 'Just A Boy' - The Chiffons . (US Laurie - LR- 3350, 1966)

      And here's the audio-clip. . Image

A Great choice in the Chiffons. one of the finest of american girl groups ever. "He's So Fine" and "One Fine Day" aside, their recordings were all masterfully done. It's Ironic that The Beatles, who by all accounts, loved groups like these signaled their death knell. So much for American Rock & Roll.

They got a little revenge on George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" though, thanks to the estate of Lonnie Mack.
"In the 60's it was rock & roll, by the 70's they dropped the roll and called it rock, in the 80's MTV came along and it was more like professional wrestling." Tom Petty

  • The topic's still "file under "C":

I thought, I should share this little beauty with all of you and for my friend Kimmo N. in particular:

      • 'I'm A Cult Hero' / 'I Dig You' - Cult Hero . (UK Fiction - FICS 006, 1979)

        • . Image

According to 'Discogs' has this been recorded during a party at Morgan Studios London. This was the first time Porl Thompson, Simon Gallup and Robert Smith recorded together.

Here's the appropriate audio clip . Image

  • Returned from a few days in London, Oxford and 'Stonehenge' with 'Marci', my love, I decided to share the first release of 'The Cure' under their genuine name. This 7" single has been originally released first by the independent 'Small Wonder' label:

    • 'Killing An Arab' / '10:15 Saturday Night' - . (UK Small Wonder Records ‎– Small Eleven, 1978)

      • . Image

        . Image

      • . Image

        . Image

        . Image

        . Image

Apart from the different labels and the little monochrome photograph near the mid of the back cover, close to the left seam, both releases are identical. . Image
Though I must confess, that I prefer the 'Small Wonder' original first release. I guess, it's because of their really cool labels!
    . Image

Because of political correctness and the extremism everywhere, that is the really nasty face of fear and hate, I decided to chose the flip-side as the audio clip . Image

  • One more Cure 7" single on "Fiction":

    • 'Jumping Someone Else's Train' / 'I'm Cold' (backing vocals allegedly by 'Siouxsie Sioux')- The Cure . (UK Fiction - FICS 5, 1979)

      • . Image

        . Image

        . Image

Their second single release, comes with really surrealistic cover art, beside a great song.
