  • Tonight I felt the urge to play two albums from one of my absolutely fave female singers of all time, firstly:

    • 'Out of Season' - Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man . (EU Go! Beat – 066574-1, 2002)
. original release (this one has been counterfeit)

  • This isn't a debut literally, but it's her debut vinyl release, therefor I thought, it would fit in here well:

    • 'Like A Rose' - Ashley Monroe . (US Warner Bros. Records Nashville – 533994-1 , 2013)

  • One more American lady which I haven't played for quite some time and again not a genuine debut, but the first vinyl album:

    • 'Back To Me' - Kathleen Edwards . (US Zoë Records – ZOË 1047, 2005)

      • . Image

So if you're male, listen on your own risk to this audio clip! . Image

  • On a sunny Tuesday morning I decided to play the debut of my fave "down under" bands ever:

    • 'Mental Notes' - Split Enz . (US Chrysalis - 1131, 1976)

      • The US cover:

        The New Zealand version (unfold):

It's one of my "all time greatest" albums ever! . Image

Sure there's an audio clip for the interested! . Image

Killer power pop/rock from 1977 (England)

  • I thought today I should share a real cool debut album:

    • 'Fabulous Poodles' - Fabulous Poodles . (UK PYE - NSPL 18530, 1977)

      • . Image

They belong to those brilliant English bands, that got a chance in shadow of the punk era . . . they released three albums, that I have all and I still dig their kind of power pop/rock combined with absolute great humor and pensiveness! . Image
Sure, here's an audio clip for you . . . ("Roll Your Own"). Image

  • Again a debut that has been release in 1977 and this time it's magnificent and grounded rock:

    • 'Yachtless' - Tyla Gang . (UK Beserkley ‎– BSERK-11, 1977)

      • . Image

This debut album has been so terribly underrated at the time of it's release unfortunately. I was hooked to it, straight from the first spin! A clean copy won't turn up often these days.. Image

Of course I provide an audio clip for you! . Image.

I never really paid a lot of attention to The Tyla Gang, even though I was aware of other groups in the Berserkley stable. Sean Tyla (Leader of The Tyla Gang) is known to me through the great Pub Rock group, Ducks Deluxe, of which he was a founding member. I will have to try The Tyla Gang. I have really enjoyed listening to Ducks Deluxe over the years. maybe lightning will strike twice.

  • Curt! I also have an album from "Ducks DeLuxe" - 'Taxi To The Terminal Zone' from 1975 (RCA ‎– SF8402), that I really love, unfortunately the others eluded me somehow. I guess, you will like the "Tyla Gang" albums as well, give them a serious try. . Image
