Oh yea, King Curtis from 1967! Sadly he was stabbed to death in NYC just 4 years later in a fight with two drug dealers. It wasn't over drugs though. They were sitting on the stairs blocking the entrance to his building, (they didn't live there), and he was carrying an air condition unit up to his apartment. They refused to move when asked and an argument ensued. :(
"In the 60's it was rock & roll, by the 70's they dropped the roll and called it rock, in the 80's MTV came along and it was more like professional wrestling." Tom Petty

  • The letter "C" section in my 7" singles cabinet contains some really nice little gems, that I haven't touched for far too long. Here's one of the more scarce recordings:

    • 'Hitparade 2' - Petula Clark . (UK Nixa (Pye) - NEP 24056, 1958) a reissue, original was released 1957

Would you have recognized her without the name on the cover? It's a bit different in contrast to her later heyday releases, a bit more '50s style, but not bad.. Image
Here's an audio clip for example! . Image

I'm spinning the 2017 reissue of the first Boston album which I picked up for £12.99 during the week. It's a German pressing, Sony 88985438101.

Perhaps to spite me after my recent negative comments about remasters, I'm pleased to say it sounds better (clarity, detail and body) than my 1976 EPC 81611 original :D

  • I have heard these things several times about German pressings, to me, they are common, therefor I am prejudiced and can't judge disinterested. But it's good to hear, that you are pleased! . Image

  • I moved to letter "C" with the cataloging of my 7" singles and thought, I should share this little beauty with you. Not just because it was a major hit, also because I really dig the cover photograph, it's the one, that I love second best of all of my 'Petsy' singles.

    • 'My Love' - Petula Clark . (DE Vogue - DV 14470, 1966)
