The Tymes "So In Love" Label Variant

Post by wand143 » Sun Apr 20, 2014 1:07 pm

This one turned up at a recent record show - it's a copy of The Tymes' "So In Love" (the "rare" title variation) but it's on the later Cameo label, the one with the interlocking "CP" letters. What the heck? I thought they changed the title before the label change, but...I guess this is some sort of transitional pressing?

Probably just a printer's choice (or 'factory variation' if you prefer). See the remarks here: Parkway P-871.

OK, thanks. It turned out to not be an upgrade so a dealer friend is getting it. It'll give him a reason to print something on the sleeve about the "rare title", though he'll know enough to list it for just 50 cents based on its condition.

I know of five label variations for "So (Much) in Love" that are not on 45cat.

These are:
Apparent RCA pressing with "C" after the A-side matrix number. This also has "Straigis" instead of "Joseph."

Tall, thin, W I D E print with "So in Love" instead of "So Much in Love" as found on 45cat.

Print similar to the one that I think is from RCA, with "So Much in Love" and Straigis, but with "A" after the A-side matrix number.

Apparently pressed by ARP.

Round, wide print similar to the second A-side photo on 45cat, with "So in Love" but with "Joseph" instead of "Straigis."

Round print with bold titles -- apparently a Monarch styrene pressing with a slick label.

It looks like every label printer was using whatever information they happened to have at the time.
