Attracting new customers on eBay - any suggestions?

Post by 45vinyljunkie » Sat Sep 29, 2012 2:33 am

I've been selling on eBay on a regular basis for more than three years. (eBay ID: 45vinyljunkie) Things were going great until this spring, when all of sudden my monthly sales started to decline. I have a base of regular customers who are always buying from me, but I'm trying to find ways to attract buyers/collectors who have never purchased from me.

At this time, I have 3,300-plus 45s available in my eBay store. http://www.ebay.com/sch/45vinyljunkie/m ... =10&_rdc=1 Last week I started offering free shipping via Media Mail to U.S. customers who buy 12 or more 45s. A few buyers have taken advantage of the offer, but I'm still trying to find other ways to get new customers. Any suggestions?

I don't have a answer to your attraction problem but anyone who can get more than 50c for

Bullet mint 45 rpm "White Lies, Blue Eyes" on Big Tree Records
Engelbert Humperdinck NM 45 rpm "This Moment In Time" on Epic
Carpenters NM 45 rpm "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft"
Donny Osmond 45 rpm "Hey, Girl" on MGM Records
Somethin' Smith & the Redheads NM 45 "When All The..."

I've got to take my hat off to.
I see acres of that in NYC and leave it where it stands, and its usually clean in sleeves.
and it would still be there 6 months from now

Now, if you can get a legitimate $4.00 for
Mitch Miller NM 45 rpm "Song Of The Sparrow" on Columbia
your name must be Barnum and if / when the clients dry up on the Bay
Just move on to selling something else, anything else!! You'll do fine.

Hand cleaned and play graded for an average of $3 ish a pop, net.
You're a better man than I.

I agree with Fireflite - you're listing Neil Diamond and Perry Como...and selling them. You're my hero. Don't change a thing.

Using a listing service (like Auctiva) seemed to add google search links to my ebay listings. If not already- consider selling on amazon, discogs etc. Put your user name in the description. Hth-m

If you only list the Beach Boys records that I want to buy, I'll spend all of my time there!

not so much a way to get NEW buyers interested, but there's one buyer i do keep going back to. i bought from her once or twice, and then asked about one specific record. she responded and we chatted a bit about bands and releases. i didn't know it at the time, but she added me to her email list which she sends out about every two weeks when she posts new stuff. i don't know if that's a better model than just having listings up all the time that expire throughout the week, but i keep going back.

obviously there are ramifications to sending unsolicited emails selling your wares, but for this connection, i didn't mind. perhaps there's some leniency because you've had a prior business relationship. i don't mind getting the emails because she's usually got stuff i'm after, and she always includes a few of the heavy hitters that she's currently listing along with a link to her auctions.
