Vee-Jay help needed...

Post by DaveyTheWaxMan » Sun May 18, 2014 10:29 pm

Okay.
Getting ready to plunk down for a "Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles," but here's the problem...when I see scans of the LP's labels, they ALL say Introducing the Beatles. Like--on every single auction site!!

What's the story??

Was it some re-packaging of the tracks from Vee-Jay's ITB release, or what??

Yes! As detailed in Spizer's "Beatles Records on Vee-Jay", "This album is nothing more than a fancy repackaging of the second version of Vee-Jay's"
"Introducing the Bealtles"". Although the company assigned the release a new number....Vee-Jay did not bother to print new labels
for the records placed in the new jacket." So, you will find an "Introducing the Beatles" lp inside the "Songs, etc..." jacket.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, even if it's wrong, which it is, uh, most of the time, maybe....or not.

The same is true for "the Beatles vs. the 4 Seasons."
They took copies of Introducing the Beatles (with that title on the label) and copies of Golden Hits (with that title on the label) and put them into a new cover.

So, all original copies of "Songs, Pictures, and Stories" have ITB on the label.

Try to find a stereo copy (of SP&S) with a concert banner. Every single one is rare.
