Need Help Identifying Sealed yesterday and Today

Post by bluevirgo7 » Wed Apr 09, 2014 2:54 am

Hi Everyone
haven't posted here in long time
I hope someone can Help

forgive me if this has been answered before

I came across a sealed Yesterday and Today trunk cover

It does NOT have the Gold Record Stamp

Does Not if I remember Correct have a number by the RIAA on back

has correct ST number

no writing on back cover on bottom

i doubt it is butcher
cover does not appear glossy but i can't really tell
i do not have picture to post as the LP is on Hold

Do all First Pressing Stereo have a number near the RIAA?
Is there a sure fire way to tell if this is first press and not Re issue/ later pressing without breaking seal
do all re issues apple etc have the gold record stamp
was this issued in a box set
they are asking $50 for it
any help would be appreciated
thank you

no

likely not the one you have, but later reissues were indeed part of a box set.
some very recent.

Look for Ringo's v-neck on the middle, right side of cover.

You asked...
Do all First Pressing Stereo have a number near the RIAA?

YES! That number is "2" for Scranton copies and "5" for copies pressed in Los Angeles.

You asked...
Is there a sure fire way to tell if this is first press and not Re issue/ later pressing without breaking seal?

Later copies that do not have the Gold Record Award seal typically have another number on the back and/or are missing the statement on the back cover reading "This stereo record should be played only with a stereo cartridge and needle to avoid damage."

You asked
do all re issues apple etc have the gold record stamp?

NO! While most copies pressed in Scranton or Winchester have the seal, most copies pressed in Los Angeles do not have it.

Thanks namralos i can narrow this down to 70's pressing Los Angeles plant, there are a lot of mix and match record.cover on ebay so using that as reference is problematic i have the Lp listed on ebay and need to be as accurate as possible
thanks
