Bizarre Cleaning Methods

Post by RidinTheWind » Wed Aug 09, 2017 6:10 pm

This certainly has to come under the above, cleaning records with vodka! I guess that's why the grooves aren't in a straight line!

I heard this from talking with a collector yesterday, and she was serious!

But, booze is ethyl alcohol and I recall a record guide specifically mentioning that ethyl alcohol should never be used on records.
Anyone who thinks he has a foolproof plan hasn't counted on the ingenuity of fools.

  • Really strange, I'd love to check the condition of her records. What I use more or less regularly without any issue is "propanol" alcohol, if you have to eliminate dogged grease of something similar on records and (be careful) covers, it's the best you can try! Never experienced any harm on vinyl, but seldom some on covers.

I heard you are only supposed to use vodka to clean Dean Martin records! :D
