Playboys - Chet Baker & Art Pepper

An excellent album. Later reissued as "Picture Of Heath" with an altered running order of the songs.

Getz Meets Mulligan - Stan Getz & Gerry Mulligan (1957)

A fine west coast jazz album. It's interesting to hear Getz on a baritone Saxophone and Mulligan on tenor each playing the others parts on half the tunes.
All of the musician, with the exception of Ray Brown on bass, are truly west coasters. Great stuff.

You shouldn't miss her cover versions of so many great songs of a variety of genres! Below a few tasters for your pleasure:
I already have several of her albums, I also have seen her live in "Potsdam" near Berlin/Germany. She has a really distinctive way of singing. I just can highly recommend her music! . Image

Horace Tapscott- The Giant Is Awakened; 1969, Flying Dutchman

Fine debut album by a great (& under-rated) Jazz artist. Rooster recommended artist, but anyone wanting to give Tapscott a try, keep in mind that he tends to fall on the Avant Garde side of Jazz.

This is one that I keep going back to. Abbey Lincoln was such a great vocalist. Riverside 251; 1957

  • I felt, that today I should give a few albums of an distinctive lady of the "jazz | soul" genre a spin again: (not for sale this time, they're keepers, all!) Here's an example:

    • 'Soldier of Love' - Sade . (EU Epic – 88697666701, 2010)

Since the first concert I have been to, I thought she should release a live album! Though I'm not really a fan of live albums at all! Now she finally did! It's a box containing 3 center-fold covered 12" recordings. In total there are five sides to be played, the last is hand engraved with a greeting, a cat and an autograph. That's what I call a well equipped release!
I have just played it once, but can assure, that it's an insanely great album, the production as well as the quality of sound and the selection of songs. The have been recorded during a European tour, or maybe more?

Don't let it pass by, Universal announced it as a limited edition, I don't have any information about the number of boxes they did produce and they are not numbered. But that's not really the point, I do love what I've heard so fare and must say, it's a bit like having her at my home! I'm looking forward to see her live with Marci, my love, on 2018-07-26, for the fourth time.
She made me love her more with this box-set . . .
