Anyone remember Cocaine Comix? As a kid it was a bit of a surprise to see this in amongst the Richie Rich comics at my grandparents' house (my uncle's old collection):

CHAD

I have 500-600 underground comix from the 60s and early 70s in my storage locker. While it was fun seeing the sexual hijinx of Crumb and Wilson and the politics of Spain and the smokedoping humor of Sheridan, the one who has lasted the best for me were the psychedelic comix of Fred Schreier, a man who has never gotten his due.

MasterMind,
Were these late 60s/early 70s horrors available to young Aussies:

Weird
Terrors Of Dracula
Tales Of Voodoo
Witch's Tales (etc etc etc)?

...they were oversized (magazine style) with extremely gory/blood-drenched covers!
Don't ask me why, but they reminded me of some sideshow banners I used to see at the fair,
or something from the haunted house attraction- but way more gory... use to love those damn things!
Ha, I still have a couple my mom didn't get her mitts on!! I need help, I know!!

I'm pretty sure those B&W horror comics were available here. I used to buy a lot of comics at the second hand book store at the Coolbellup shops when I was a kid. All the comics had 40/20 written on the cover in permanent marker and I was up there swapping my books every few days. I can only imagine what might have passed through my little hands.

I used to get some of those old magazine style black and white comics, Vampirella was a special fave. I don't recall my mum paying any attention. I don't have any of them any more, I sold a couple of Creepy's a few years back and that was the last of them I had.

I'm guessing they followed the MAD model and went to magazine size to avoid the comics code that killed the original 50s horror comics.

Here's a 1950s beauty I scored the other week.

I reckon he had the munchies worse than Shaggy. Now there's two guys who should have partied together.
