Beginning probably in the 1970's, regional hits went the way of 45's and 78's but this single made #1 in Toronto (CKEY 580) in the summer of 1963. It was virtually unplayed in most areas of North America. About eight months later, The Searchers saw its potential, recorded it and had a big hit. Written by Jack Nitszche & Sonny Bono and produced by Dick Glasser, it is really a fine performance and deserved a far better fate.

Thanks for sharing that song! I gave it a listen on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VVhSscKpR4

You're right. That should have hit.

BTW, she also does a very good cover of the David/Bacharach song "To Wait For Love", slightly faster than Herb Alpert's version.
Anyone who thinks he has a foolproof plan hasn't counted on the ingenuity of fools.
