This might have been Roy's biggest hit and the irony is that most of his Monument sides were high powered ballads whereas this is a medium paced rocker. My first reaction was that it was quite ordinary and the guitar riff ripped off Little Richard's "Lucille". Then, on October 11th 1964, I saw him perform it on the Ed Sullivan Show and the magic happened. There actually are two versions that sound identical (to me anyway). On one he sings "..come with me baby, be mine tonight...", on the other it's "...come to me baby, be mine tonight..". Shortly after this he left Monument for MGM and he was never quite the same.
