As we continue...

W.I.G.*
1960s Label
( Refer also to: Amon / EV )
* Not affiliated with any other like-named labels

Note: Gino Washington was one of three acts that recorded for this imprint ( the others being Pearl Jones and the group, " The So and So's " )

W.M.C.
1970s Label
Owner: Gino Washington
( Refer also to: Washpan )

Note: Again, the name Gino Washington appears as this label-owner as well as the only artist on the imprint ( among the many he also recorded for, under many names )

WADE ENTERPRISES
1970s Label

Note: An act, also going by the name of " Wade " recorded for this imprint, and a release on this label: " I'll Never Love You Anymore " b/w " Sensuous Woman " is a highly-prized collector's item from 1970's Detroit ( Wade # 59334 )

WAL-LY
1970s Label ( 1970-1971 )
Owner: Rick Wallace
6330 McNichols
Detroit

Note: Two acts recorded for this imprint: Joyce Talyor and the group Superlatives

WAR CONN
1960s Label ( 1962 )
635 Clair Pointe
Detroit

Note: The Celtics recorded for this imprint ( this same unit also had output for Al-Jack's )

WARFELL
1970s Label
7286 Wykes
Detroit

Note: The Soul Superiors were the only act on this label.
This unit was apparently not related to the " Soul Superiors Of Detroit " who recorded for Design* ( * Not the like-named ' budget ' label )

WASHINGTON*
1970s Label
Owner: B. Washington
18450 Livernois
Detroit
* Not affiliated with any other like-named labels

Note: Oddly, in regard to all the small imprints owned by Gino Washington, this one was not one of them ( the owner listed as " B. Washington " from the files )

WASHPAN
1960s Label
Owner: Gino Washington
2715 Cadillac Tower
Detroit

Note: Although listing various addresses ( due to floor-levels and suite numbers ) many labels operated out of the Cadillac Tower, including the early days of the Hot Wax and Invictus Records

WATCHMAN*
1980s Label
Owner: Larry Buford
* Not affiliated with any other like-named labels

Note: The only act on this label was Larry Buford, who recorded for this, his own imprint

WBC
1960s Gospel Label

Note: Only one act had output for this imprint: " Brother Walter Ponder "

WC
1980s Label

WCMC
1980s Gospel Label

WDRQ 93 FM
1980s Label ( 1984 )

Note: An actual label name, the imprint released material by Somerset

WE 3
1980s Label ( 1984 )
Owners: Mike Terry, Pete Hall, and Martha Jean Steinberg
( Refer also to: Mah's )

WENHA
1980s Jazz Label ( 1980 )
Owner: Wendell Harrison
81 Chandler
Detroit
( Refer also to: Tribe* )
* Not affiliated with any other like-named labels

Note: Two acts were on this imprint: O'Dell Hughes, and label-owner Wendell Harrison

WESTBOUND
1969-1979 Label
Owner: Armen Boladian
( Refer also to: Eastbound )

Note: The importance of this label ( and it's owner ) can never be over-stated.

With some fifty-five acts on the roster, the label lasted for ten years, but had little national ( pop ) chart action, as compared to some of the other Detroit-based labels that faired much better ( ie: Hot Wax / Invictus, etc )

Next: " DETROIT-W-Ende "

Thank you.
